A One-Man Performance by Grigory Pechkyshev
Consultant — Sergey Vasilenko
Sound Design — Alexey Logunov
Based on Osip Mandelstam’s The Fourth Prose.
We live, not sensing the country beneath our feet,
Our words cannot be heard even ten steps away,
And wherever there is enough for half-talk,
They remember the Kremlin highlander…
The only possible way to remain human under inhuman conditions is to remain true to oneself and faithful to one’s convictions.
The performance consists of a series of brilliant excerpts connected by a tragic episode in the life of the remarkable poet Osip Mandelstam. His fate becomes a focal point in which the spirit of the era and the intertwined destinies of others converge. It seems that the poet does not merely foresee his future, but consciously shapes it and moves toward it. But is that really so?
