Program notes
The way of life of a person living in the age of new technologies is undergoing radical change, while the abundance of information available to us creates an acute sense of the transience of life. In such a world, one of the purposes of music may be to temporarily remove us from this turbulent flow and allow us to pause.
Memories is a meditation on this idea: an attempt to stop and focus our attention on something that, at some point, we failed to notice. This idea informs the work’s static dramaturgy, which is built upon the continuous variation of an initially established melodic pattern.
