for piano and live electronics
Fragile World originated from an idea conceived in February 2020 and gradually gained new resonance during the global pandemic. During the winter months, I often listened to the cries of crow flocks nesting around my apartment building and music school. Their sound created a sense of anxiety and instability, leading me to reflect on how easily the fragile equilibrium of human existence can be disrupted.
The piece eventually became a meditative exploration of this feeling. The electronic part combines prerecorded sounds, generated materials, and live processing elements, creating a constantly shifting environment around the piano. While the electronic layer is initially more static, the improvisatory nature of the piano part introduces instability and unpredictability into the musical structure. This piece marks my first exploration of Max/MSP as a medium for transforming and expanding acoustic sound.
