Overtuned Fest is an interdisciplinary contemporary music festival founded by composers Alexey Logunov, Jee Won Kim, and violinist Christopher Herz in Bloomington, Indiana. Guided by its mission to support artists whose work moves across genres, disciplines, and performance traditions, Overtuned creates new contexts for collaboration and performance.

About Overtuned
Overtuned provides a platform for composers, performers, and visual artists working across acoustic, electric, electronic, and vocal media, encouraging artistic practices that do not fit within a single established category.
The festival is centered around the Overtuned Ensemble, consisting of Noah Lopez (drum set and percussion), Christopher Herz (violin and guitar), Bracey Scott (bass guitar), and Alexey Logunov (piano and electronics). This instrumentation allows the ensemble to move between notated and improvised materials, acoustic and electronic sound worlds, and influences ranging from contemporary classical music to progressive rock, jazz, and experimental practices. By bringing together these approaches, Overtuned creates opportunities for composers and performers to develop new forms of collaboration.
The inaugural Overtuned Fest in 2026 presented commissioned works, new pieces selected through a Call for Scores for rock band and chamber orchestra, collaborations with visual artists, a reimagining of Schubert’s Winterreise, a guest performance by Jiji Kim, and educational outreach with the Bloomington public school system. These activities connected local audiences, students, and professional artists through multiple approaches to contemporary music performance.
In 2027, Overtuned Fest will continue to expand its programming through new interdisciplinary collaborations, including projects by composers from different cultural backgrounds who reinterpret their musical heritage through contemporary practices, live performances accompanying silent films, and works by leading composers such as Steve Reich alongside emerging voices. Through its festival, ensemble, and educational initiatives, Overtuned aims to create a lasting space in Bloomington for artists and audiences to explore new possibilities in contemporary performance.
